Nursery Fail — Let’s try this again

Nursery Fail — Let’s try this again

I give up.

I surrender to my failure.

It’s time to start over.

It all started when I thought I was painting Kennedy’s room a very, very-close-to-white-off-white.  Well, that ended up being and I didn’t love it.  (sorry for the crappy iphone pic)

Then it was the curtains that my oh-so-wonderful ever-loving mother sewed for me.  They are really cute curtains, but they  aren’t working in this room and it took me a long time to accept that because she worked extremely hard on them. I’m sorry mom!

I’m still in love with the rug from RugsUSA.com.  I’m perfectly happy with the french provincial dresser that was my mom’s, then mine, and now Kennedy’s.  photo 1

The Graco crib– it’s fine and was in our price range and it’s certainly not going to be changed now.  But that’s about where it ends.  I’ve tried and tried to make the room work for me (yes ‘me’ — Kennedy could care less) and I just can’t get there.  It’s such a wreck and I want to start fresh.

Here’s a VERY ROUGH mood board what I’m thinking:

The spotted wallpaper is from Spoonflower and I’m dying to use it on just one wall.  The thing is, for just that one wall it’s going to cost $260 plus tax.  Let’s be honest and say it’s way out of my price range right now. However, I did sell the excess tile from the bath reno (story here) and have a $350 budget to finish the nursery and buy paint for our half-bath.  I may have to sell a few more things that are sitting in my basement, but you better believe I’m going to make it work!

And how cute are the illustrations from etsy?!  I’m so in love with them and it’s looking like Kennedy may end up being a redhead herself, so they’d be perfect for her!  At $20 each I can get a couple for the room—although I’m not sure how I’m going to choose.

Anyone else ever had to start completely over after a design fail?

No? Just me?  Okay.

Shall we place bets on how long it will take me to finish the nursery?  ……sheesh.

    • As a matter of fact I have thought about it! I read that post a few weeks ago. Honestly, it’s 50/50 which way I’ll go as of now. Thanks for looking out for me though! 🙂
