New York, New York!

New York, New York!

Alex and I are headed to NYC tomorrow morning for a quick getaway. Just the two of us.  And a big ol’ city full of people.  I love the hustle and bustle of NYC.  I used to want to live there in a massive high-rise apartment in the middle of all the action.  My oh my how times have changed.  Just living in downtown Atlanta did it for me.  I missed seeing the stars at night.  I like my suburbia life, although the commute to work in the city does get a bit old.

Alex has never been to NY and I haven’t been in 10 years.  I went with my friend Sarah right after our high school graduation.  I look back now and think WHAT IN THE WORLD WERE WE THINKING?!  Two 18 year old girls taking off on our own.  Lord help me if I have a daughter who wants to be as adventurous as I was at such a young age.  But I will say, we had a great time and stayed very safe.  We went to a few shows, one of which was Cabaret….and who was the emcee in Cabaret????  JOHN STAMOS! Unfortunately, John Stamos in Cabaret is no where near as attractive as John Stamos in Full House.  I prefer my men sans makeup.

I will forever remember that trip to NYC with my high school best friend, but I am so excited to re-discover the city with my husband.

We are hoping to see a couple Broadway shows.  I am dying to see Jersey Boys again.  It is probably my favorite musical ever!

Jersey Boys definitely has some rough language, but it goes with the story.  It wouldn’t make sense to have a musical based upon real events that involved the mob in New Jersey with G-rated language.  But that’s just my opinion.  If you can get past the language, it is superb!  It’s a constant flow of wonderful music and you’ll leave the theatre singing the songs all the way home….and possibly for the next couple of months.

Besides Broadway I look forward to doing a lot of walking and site seeing.  Central Park, The World Trade Center Memorial, 5th Avenue shopping…I want to do and see it all!

We’re going to have to bundle up though!

I’ll post some pics after we get back!  I’m kind of excited about the 100% chance of snow on Saturday:)
