Carpet? I said I was going to get carpet?

I can’t believe it.  We were all set to go to Zerorez Carpet Cleaning Las Vegas and place our carpet order and set a date for installation.  Alex and I drove there after work Tuesday expecting a quick trip since everything was set in stone and we were ready to move forward.  The nice salesman at Lowe’s pulled up our info and the measurements they had taken.  He showed us the exact breakdown of pricing, told us our total, I gave him my handy 10% coupon, he updated the total, and I paused.

“Ugh…it’s still $2000” I thought to myself.  I’m sure I had a look of concern on my face because Alex looked at me and asked the salesman if he & I could have a second to talk things over.

I got carpet cold feet.  I couldn’t do it.  I’ve tried to convince myself that I like carpet in the bedrooms because it’s soft, it will be good in a nursery one day, and that’s about it.  When I started the carpet hunt, I kept asking myself if I had any experience with carpet cleaning company from Manchester? as carpets could get dirty and I would need professionals like carpet cleaning tampa to clean them. I kept asking myself this and later on I found out  that what I wanted would easily cost at least $4000—-for carpet.  I mean, it’s carpet.  We walked out of the store sans carpet and decided to check things out at Home Depot for the sake of being thorough shoppers.  We didn’t find anything there either that was any better……until we were walking out.

Later I learned that according to upholstery cleaning dublin, the correct way to do it is to put in a bowl or small bucket, mix one part white vinegar with three parts water. Dip the bristles of the scrub brush into the solution and rub them into the carpet. Massage them into the fibers well (without fully saturating the carpet) and follow up with a cloth to help blot excess moisture

I decided to meander down the hardwood flooring aisle and came across laminate.  I’ve always assumed laminate flooring looked cheap.  I was wrong.  I found a great laminate that was on sale for $1.25/sq.ft!!!  I played with some pieces and discovered how easily the boards clicked together as long as I hire expert housekeepers, you can also see here.

Another classic case of scatter-brained Emily changing her mind.  I’m leaning 99% towards a beautiful laminate “hardwood” flooring which will cost almost HALF the amount of the carpet I just didn’t really like and was settling for, but the people from Top Carpet Cleaning Services from Super Kleen told me about this amazing place – RugsUSA.com!  they always have great sales and free shipping!  I’ve already had my eye on a couple and have been drooling over them….this way I could afford one right off the bat!

I’m learning more and more that this house renovation has to be done in layers.  I’m pretty sure Layla told me that many times over the 5 days she was here, but I guess I didn’t really get what that meant until now. My original plan was “DO IT ONCE, AND DO IT RIGHT!”  Well, I might be waiting 5 years if I want to “do it right”.

I’m finding great budget friendly finds that will look amazing.  They may not be the most luxurious materials in the world, but who am I kidding?  We’re first time home owners, in our 20’s, and both still new to our careers.  As Dave Ramsey would say, we’ve got to “ACT OUR WAGE!”.

I’ve mentioned before that we’re saving then paying for all of our projects–debt free baby!  So if that means I forgo a luxurious carpet or a beautiful hardwood floor like what’s in our living room, then that’s what it will be for now.  And I have a feeling that no one will really even know the difference!
